Police detained a 15-year-old boy from Mumbra for allegedly raping his neighbours 14-year-old mentally challenged sister.
According to police,the accused was caught in the act by the victims family at 2.30 pm Sunday. The victim is well acquainted with the accused,who stays on an upper floor in the same building,police said. She went up to his house Sunday afternoon,officers said.
When the victim did not return,her sister became worried and went upstairs.
The door was closed and there was no response to the doorbell. After a while,the accused,without opening the door,asked the victims sister what she wanted. Ultimately,he opened the door and the sister saw bloodstains on his clothes. She rushed inside and found the victim in a state of partial undress,bleeding from her private parts, said an officer.
The sister raised an alarm and gathered some people,who handed over the accused to police. The victim was rushed to Thane Civil Hospital where she is currently being treated.
The accused has been detained as he cannot be arrested since he is a minor.
We have charged him with rape under the IPC as well under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,2012. We will produce him at the juvenile court in Bhiwandi Monday, said Inspector Prashant Bade.
