A Vile Parle jeweller was attacked by four men with sharp-edged weapons and robbed of a bag containing valuables on Saturday. The victim — Kushal Khetraj Jain,45,resident of Chandvarkar Lane in Borivali (West) — has been admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and his condition is reportedly critical.

Police said Jain was walking to his shop Varun Jewellers on Azad Road in Vile Parle (East) around 7 pm,when an autorickshaw intercepted him. Two men attacked Jain with a chopper and a knife while another pointed a revolver. The driver of the rickshaw snatched the bag and the men fled in the rickshaw. People rushed him to the hospital. Police have managed to get the last four digits of the rickshaw’s registration number, which was noted down by a passerby.

“A case of robbery has been registered,” senior inspector Narayan Patil of Ville Parle police said. ENS
