I-T dept surveys 6 premises linked to Sonu Sood

The sources said the department is looking into a land deal between Sonu Sood's firm and a real estate company in Lucknow following complaints of alleged tax evasion.

The Income Tax (I-T) Department on Wednesday surveyed at least six premises in Mumbai and Lucknow connected to actor Sonu Sood, official sources said.

The sources said the department is looking into a land deal between Sood’s firm and a real estate company in Lucknow following complaints of alleged tax evasion.

The department survey began on Wednesday morning and continued till at least 7 pm. The tax department has so far not made any seizures in the case, said a source.

Prayers of lakhs of families are with Sood, says Delhi CM 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended his support towards the actor over Twitter.

“There are millions of difficulties on the path of honesty, but truth always wins. The prayers of lakhs of families of India who got Sonu ji’s support in difficult times are with @SonuSood ji,” Kejriwal wrote.

Sood, 48, who has acted in several films, was recently appointed brand ambassador of the Delhi government’s ‘Desh ka mentors’ programme. The programme is designed to help students with career choices.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic Sood has helped several people through his many charitable interventions.

Sood also runs a charitable foundation called the Sood Charity Foundation.
