With three gold medals won by the Indian team,this is the best performance by any country at the International Astronomy Olympiad,according to the Nehru Science Centre,Mumbai. The 18th International Astronomy Olympiad was held at Vilnius,the Republic of Lithuania,from September 6-14.
The Nehru Science Centre (NSC),Worli,a unit of National Council of Science Museums,coordinated the event on behalf of India. The results were announced Saturday by the NSC.
Bhavya Choudhury from Dayanand Anglo Vedic Public School,Kota,Charles Rajan from Sanskaar Valley School,Bhopal,and Nagendra Reddy from Narayana Olympiad School,Hyderabad,represented India at the competition.
The three-member team won three gold medals,the highest tally by any country since the inception of the competition and the best for India since it began participating in it from 1998, said NSC director Shivaprasad Khened.
