IMD predicts moderate rain today, yellow alert for next three days

The yellow alert is in place for Wednesday (July 5), Thursday (July 6) and Friday (July 7).

IMD predicts moderate rain today, yellow alert for next three days

AMID THE city experiencing subdued rainfall since Sunday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast another day of moderate showers for Mumbai on Tuesday.

From July 5, however, the city must brace itself for heavy downpour, with the IMD sounding a yellow alert, stating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at specific places in Mumbai and Thane. The yellow alert is in place for Wednesday (July 5), Thursday (July 6) and Friday (July 7).

On Monday, the city experienced moderate showers amid a green alert issued by IMD. As per the weather bureau’s data, between Sunday and Monday, the IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded 45 mm rain and the coastal observatory at Colaba recorded 22 mm rain.

With milder rain, temperatures in the city hovered over 30 degree Celsius. Both Santacruz and Colaba observatories recorded temperature one degree above normal.
