A 37-year-old history sheeter was gunned down by members of a rival group at a bar in Khar Wednesday.
According to the Nirmal Nagar police,Vijay Pujari was drinking with friends at Sharda bar on Golibar Road. Around 11.15 pm,main suspect Rahul Sharma showed up along with his accomplices Deepak Sharma,Ajay Pandit,Viren Thakur and Subhash Shukla and accosted Pujari,an officer said.
“Rahul pointed his gun at Pujari and fired two rounds. However, only one bullet hit him on his chest,” said inspector Balwant Deshmukh.
The accused then slashed Pujari’s neck and stomach before fleeing the spot. He was rushed to V N Desai Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His friend Chandan Singh sustained minor injuries, said police.
Primary investigations revealed that Rahul and Deepak had an ongoing tussle with Pujari over the past years and the murder was an act of revenge.
Pujari, who was employed with the cargo service of a private airline, had two cases of robbery and assault against him. Rahul is a history sheeter while Deepak was externed from the city in 2012.
“We are on the lookout for the accused and are in the process to find out if something had happened between Pujari and the suspects prior to the incident,” said Deshmukh.
