The accused have been identified as Amit,30 and Jinal Patel,22,of Anand in Gujarat. The police said the couple befriended the complainant Beena Parekh when she had gone to Ambaji Temple in Gujarat in October on October 18. Parekh returned to her house the next day and within a few days she received a call from the couple who said they were coming to Mumbai for some work and wanted to visit her,the police said.

On October 29,the couple visited Parekh and said they would be staying for a few days. On November 1,when the complainant returned home after visiting a friend, she found the couple missing.

Senior police inspector Suresh Shinde said she approached the police on November 4 after finding her cash and jewelry missing from a cupboard.
