In the 15th year of their association with one of the country’s leading fashion events, Lakme and IMG-Reliance claim to have quite a few cards up their sleeves for the forthcoming edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW). And their latest reveal is their finale designer for Summer/Resort 2015 — Kolkata-based couturier Anamika Khanna.
The designer, celebrated for her modern take on India’s vintage fashion traditions, is all set to not only close the event, slated to be held from March 18 to 22 at the Palladium Hotel, but also set the tone for Lakme’s latest beauty product collection. “I am thrilled to be part of such a milestone and look forward to presenting my collection at the grand finale of the most sought-after event on the Indian fashion scene,” she said in a press statement. While the unveiling of their collaborative trend statement will come later, Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovation, Lakme, said, “Anamika’s craftsmanship lends itself seamlessly to this summer’s trend forecast by our company”.
For Khanna, who showed as finale designer at the Lakme India Fashion Week in 2004 — before Lakme and IMG parted ways with the Fashion Design Council of India — and again at Lakme Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2009, this is a befitting comeback to the Mumbai ramp.
