The Gorai police, investigating the murder of a 30-year-old man whose body was found at Manori beach in Borivali (West) on Sunday, learnt that the victim was called to the spot by a woman. Police are now probing who the victim had gone to meet there on Saturday night before he was killed.
Police said Ramesh Dedhia, was not a share broker as they were initially informed, but the owner of a cards club. Dedhia a resident of Malwani in Malad (West) stayed with his second wife, said the police. Dedhias first wife also stays near his house, officers said.
The police received a call from residents on Sunday about a mans body lying on the rocky area adjacent to the beach near Manori mosque in Gorai.
Police also found a cellphone near the body and traced Dedhias family through it. Dedhias wife allegedly told the police that he was a share broker and that he had said that he would not return home on Saturday night.
The police, however, found that the victim owned a playing cards club at Charkop in Kandivali, and that he was with his business partners on Saturday night. Police also claimed that Dedhia was a police informer and alleged that he was involved in flesh trade. Dedhias partner told us that he had got a call from a woman at 10pm after which he left, said Manik Bakhare, senior inspector of Gorai police.
We have sent the phone to analyse the call records as the phone was found damaged, said Bakhare.
