The Mumbai police have formed several teams to probe the murder of a married woman in Ghatkopar whose body was found with stab wounds at a bush in Ghatkopar on Thursday morning.
The police at Pant Nagar station launched a search for the woman based on a complaint by her husband, Ibrahim, that she did not return home on Wednesday night.
The body of the deceased, identified as Amina Ibrahim Siddiqui, who was in her early thirties, was found at the Kamraj Nagar area around 10.30 am. The police have registered a murder case but have so far made no arrests, said an officer.
However, senior inspector Lata Sutar said that they have got some strong leads in the case and expect to arrest the accused soon.
The Crime Branch is also conducting a parallel probe into the matter. Sources said that the police have detained several relatives of the deceased and are questioning them to find out if she had enmity with anyone.
The couple, along with their children, resided in the Kamraj Nagar area of Ghatkopar.
The police said that Amina’s sister-in-law had visited her residence on Wednesday evening, and the two women went out for some work. However, her sister-in-law reached her house after a while, but Amina did not.
On Thursday morning, the police reached the Kamraj Nagar area following an alert about the discovery of a woman’s body in the area, and identified it as Amina.
