STUDENTS whose names appear in the merit list of a particular junior college must secure admission in that college within the allotted time, failing which they will have no claim in that college and will be dropped from the process of online admissions, say the regulations on online admission for first year junior college (FYJC) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Details of the process, which have been put up on the state government’s official website, say that there will be 47 guidance centres this year, covering Mumbai (South,North,West,East),Thane,Kalyan-Dombivali,Ulhasnagar,Bhiwandi-Nizampur,Mira-Bhayandar,Vasai-Virar,Navi Mumbai and Panvel.

“The online admission process for FYJC classes is applicable to all recognized junior colleges in MMR. All the applications received will be considered for online admission process according to the merit and the order of preferences given by the applicants. An incomplete application shall be rejected. Applicants are therefore advised to check the status of their application,” says the notification.

There will be three lists, which will be prepared on the basis of the merit, category and order of preferences given by the student. In the first part,a minimum of 15,but not more than 30 preferences from the entire MMR must be given. In the second part, students are required to select any one zone — and from that zone,a minimum of 15,but not more than 20 preferences must be given.

“In the third part,an applicant is required to select any two wards/sectors from the zone selected. From these wards/sectors selected,an applicant is required to give minimum five, but not more than 10 preferences of junior colleges attached to schools,” it says.

Students may be given one betterment option and that will be in the ascending order of preference.
