Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana had in 2022 faced arrest on charges of sedition in a separate case filed during the rule of then Uddhav Thackeray led government after their announcement to chant Hanuman Chalisa at the CM’s private residence, Matoshree. The case is pending.
A magistrate court Wednesday discharged former MP and BJP member Navneet Rana on charges cheating and forgery in a case which alleged that she had forged her caste certificate.
Rana and her father Harbhajan Kundles were booked in the case on the complaint of a man, who alleged that a forged caste certificate was used by Rana to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as an Independent candidate from a seat reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates in Amravati.
The detailed order is yet to be made available. The court has also adjourned the case in framing of charges against her father.
