Forgery case: Sanjay Gupta declared absconding

The Versova police have issued a second notice to filmmaker Sanjay Gupta to be present in front of them after he failed to turn up on Friday to record his statement.

The Versova police have issued a second notice to filmmaker Sanjay Gupta to be present in front of them after he failed to turn up on Friday to record his statement.

Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor’s production house on Thursday was booked for allegedly forging the letter head of Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office for the promotion of their film.

After he failed to show up,police officers went to his house and office but did not find him. “We waited for Gupta to show up but since he did not we have declared him absconding,” said Nandkumar Mhetar,senior police inspector.

The police officers said after they record Gupta’s statement they will have to find out how many invitations were sent out,who had made them,who delivered them in police uniforms etc,based on which they will arrest them. Prima facie the police said more than 400 invitations were sent out.
