According to the local sources, the blaze originated in an apartment at the eighth floor of the building from where it spread till the 18th floor.

Local authorities said that since the building has been constructed very recently residents have occupied it till the third floor only.

Fire officials said that the fire originated from a short circuit and soon after the incident two fire fighting engines and jumbo tankers were pressed into operation.

“The blaze had spread from the fire ducts, the presence of fibre sheets in the ducts intensified the blaze,” said an official. Meanwhile, the blaze was extinguished around 2.30 pm.

Meanwhile Lodha developers issued a statement which read, “As soon as we were informed, our emergency response team by the Palava City Management Association (PCMA) reached the site to help mitigate the situation.”

“The fire has been brought under control and everyone is safe. The building has been handed over to the society, and the cause of the fire is unclear. The PCMA team is helping the society to identify the cause and future actions,” said the company’s spokesperson
