Police have registered a non-cognisable offence against newly elected Yavatmal Congress MLA Nandini Parvekar for allegedly threatening mother-in-law Kanta.

Kanta also accused Nandini of trying to take over office of her son Nilesh, who was killed in a road accident in January. Earlier this month,Nandini won a bypoll necessitated by his death.

A family discord has been brewing ever since Nandini was given the Congress ticket denying Yogesh, brother of Nilesh.

Nandini said: “I want property of my husband. I had gone (to family house) to demand that. I have two daughters. What do I do? I am living in a rented house. My mother-in-law has given me nothing and is threatening legal action. They told me to get out. I have no relations with them.”

She claimed Yogesh and three cousins of Nilesh had ganged up against her.

Yogesh said,“She came to my mother’s house a few days ago and pushed her and tore her clothes.

“The property is in the name of my mother. Nandini and Nilesh were staying on the upper floor. Half the property is in the name of Nilesh. Nandini had left the house even before his death. Nilesh stayed back. She has been threatening us on phone every day.”
