A 27-year-old employee of a leading multinational bank allegedly ended life by jumping off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Friday night. He has been identified as Akash Nagendra Singh, a resident of Ganesh Leela CHS, Parel.
According to the police, Singh has been staying with his elderly parents. His two sisters are married. On Friday, he took a taxi from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) for Parel. He asked the driver to take the taxi via sea link.
“When his taxi reached on the south-bound stretch of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, he asked the driver to stop the taxi mid-way, pretending he accidentally dropped his cell phone. When the driver stopped the taxi, he got off, climbed the railing and allegedly jumped into the sea from the bridge,” said an officer from Worli police station. The taxi driver informed the police control room about it.
The Worli police reached the spot. With the help of local fishermen and police boat, he was taken out of water and rushed to Bhabha hospital where he was declared dead before admission. The person was identified from the identity card found with him. His parents were contacted. They said he was in depression due to some personal reasons for the past three months.
“We have recorded the statement of the taxi driver. Prima facie, there seems to be no foul play and the parents too did not give any complaint. Hence an accidental death report (ADR) was registered and further probe is on,” said another police officer.
