Ex-Armyman arrested for raping and impregnating minor neighbour: Mumbai Police

“The accused was immediately taken into custody, and he was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody till November 12,” said a police officer.

According to the police, the accused retired from the Army a few years ago and was working as a security guard in a private firm. A native of Uttar Pradesh, he has been staying in Mumbai for a few years. He raped the girl twice, in the first week of September and in the first week of October, and threatened her against revealing her ordeal to anyone, said the police officer.

The girl had been complaining of abdominal pain for the past few days, but her parents initially ignored it, according to the police. But when the pain became severe and unbearable, they took the girl to Sion Hospital. A doctor who examined her found that she was two months pregnant, the officer added.

The hospital also informed the police, following which the girl underwent a medical test.
