Drug addict son kills father

A 21-year-old youth was arrested by Malwani police on Tuesday for allegedly killing his father after a tiff over drugs on Monday night.

A 21-year-old youth was arrested by Malwani police on Tuesday for allegedly killing his father after a tiff over drugs on Monday night. After the murder,the accused allegedly sat for more than an hour beside his father’s body.

According to the Malwani police,the accused identified as Irfan Shaikh bludgeoned his father’s head with a paver block used to support their cupboard.

Police said the victim Zaheer Shaikh (44),a zari worker,had assaulted and attempted to kill Irfan two days ago. Irfan’s mother works as a domestic help in the locality.

Police said,two days ago,the father-son duo while consuming charas at their house got into a fight over quantity of the drugs. In a fit of rage,Zaheer allegedly poured kerosene over the furniture when Irfan had fallen asleep,and set the house ablaze. “But Irfan rushed outside,” A Shaikh,senior police inspector of Malwani police said.

On Monday night,when the two were allegedly consuming charas,Irfan waited till his father was intoxicated,police said.

“Irfan then picked up the paver block and smashed Zaheer’s head. At 9pm,Irfan’s friend Jimar Khan (24) saw Irfan sitting besides Zaheer’s body,” Shaikh said.

Khan informed the police,who reached the spot and arrested Irfan on charges of murder. “A few years ago,Zaheer’s brother-in-law was also killed in the same manner by his son,” added Shaikh.
