There are free cupcakes, biscuits, free magazine subscriptions, goodie bags, and games this year at NH7 Weekender in Pune. These treats aren’t for you but for your dogs. Last year, the Pune edition of the music festival hosted 30 to 35 dogs by Party Barky Hai. The company that calls itself canine entertainment specialists, has already received 45 registrations this year.

Shivani Mathur,Managing Director at Party Barky Hai,says,“Last year, owners and pets had fun of course, but it was also other people who loved seeing dogs at the festival. So,this year,we have included trainers who will teach people the right way to approach unknown dogs. Other than that,we have a bunch of games planned.” The company employs trainers and animal behaviourists and is taking all possible precautions for the safety of the animals. If you want to take your dog along for the fest, you need to get a medical letter from your vet,and Mathur’s team will have to meet your pet too.

Also,Soundtrot, the company that organises travel for music festivals, has arranged a special pet-friendly hotel in Pune and Spoilt Brat Barkery,a specialised bakery for dogs will provide baked treats. Woof!,the online magazine for dog owners, will be giving free subscriptions at the festival.

However,if you find a sudden urge to mosh for Skindred or go crazy during the Chase and Status set, don’t expect Party Barky Hai to take care of your dog. Mathur says,“It has been designed for owners and dogs to bond. Owners need to remember that they are bringing their dogs to an unknown environment. The dogs have to be on a leash and with the owners at all time.”
