Reports of DNA comparison tests on Saturday proved that the body found in a nullah in Wadala last week was that of an 11-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murder by two waiters earlier this month, police said.
The victim had gone missing from near her fathers workplace on March 3,and her body was found in a nullah near IMAX theatre in Wadala on March 9.
While it was mangled beyond recognition, her parents claimed that it was their daughter, and police had sent it for DNA comparison, along with samples from her parents. We have received reports, and the DNA of body matches that of girls parents, senior inspector Nagesh Jadhav said.
On Thursday, police arrested Aslam Khan (32) and Henry Jacob (28) for allegedly raping and murdering the victim.
We started questioning those who stayed or worked in the vicinity of her house and were in regular contact with her. Among these were two accused, who worked at a restaurant near victims house. Some discrepancies in their claims as to their movements on March 3 raised suspicion. We questioned them intensively, after which they confessed, Jadhav said.
Police said Jacob knew the girl and occassionally gave her money to buy sweets. On March 3,Khan,who was allegedly drunk, convinced Jacob to get the girl to come with them. The duo allegedly intercepted her while she was on her way home from her fathers stall, and took her to a construction site, where they raped her and then hit her several times with a stone. They then threw her body in a nullah near the site, police said.
