A mob of 400 residents from Gorai recently barged into the R-Central ward office in protest against water contamination. While residents say they are privileged to be living so close to nature at one end, they have been grappling with frequent water woes.

R-Central Ward, which spreads over around 50 sq km comprising areas of Borivali and Kandivali,is famous for its greenscape – mangroves in the Gorai area on the west and Sanjay Gandhi National Park on the east. The ward has a population of 6,81,377.
