Dawood aide, wanted in UP since 1999, held in Mumbai

The accused has been charged under various sections of IPC for waging war and collecting arms.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad, in a joint operation with the Mumbai police, arrested an accused who has been wanted since 1999 on charges of waging war and collecting arms in UP. The UP ATS confirmed that the arrested accused was an aide of wanted terror accused Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar. The accused named Tariq Parveen was picked from his house in Pydhonie.

The police said that the accused is an accomplice of Azizuddin alias Aziz Sheikh alias Abdul Sattar, who was arrested on June 1, 1999 by the Hazratganj police. An AK 47 assault rifle and 96 cartridges were recovered from the guesthouse from where Azizuddin and his accomplice Akeel were arrested. The police said that the accomplice, identified as Tariq Parveen, had been wanted in the case since 1999.

“We had been coordinating with the UP police and accordingly laid a trap to nab the accused.He was arrested at 3.30 pm on Monday and was subsequently granted a transit remand by the Sewri Magistrate court, allowing the UP police to take him in their custody and take him to UP,” said Dhananjay Kulkarni, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detection.

Kulkarni said that the accused has been charged under various sections of IPC for waging war and collecting arms.
