The police have so far found 14 cases against him, including murder and extortion. Mumbai Police officers said that they will soon be seeking Garikapatti’s custody in connection with a parole jumping case filed against him, and will also be checking the status of the other cases against him. Garikapatti was earlier convicted in connection with the 1993 blasts case. “Garikapatti was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with the 1992 shootout at the JJ Hospital in Mumbai.

However, after being released on parole a couple of years later, he jumped parole and was absconding since then. We will be seeking his custody after the Goa police complete their inquiries against him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni. A Bachelor of Science (BSc) graduate from the Ruia college in Matunga, Garikapatti was a resident of the LBS road in Ghatkopar and the JJ Hospital shootout case, registered with the Byculla police, was the first case against him.
“Garikapatti has 14 cases registered against him with police stations like Oshiwara, Santacruz and Parksite in Mumbai and Nallasopara in the Thane district,” said Kulkarni. The police will first seek his custody in connection with his alleged jumping of parole in the JJ Hospital shootout case.
