School Education Minister Rajendra Darda promised
Thursday to file an FIR against officials responsible for showing Arunachal Pradesh in China in the class X geography textbook.
The issue was raised during question hour in the state Assembly. Initially, the minister denied Auranchal was not shown in Indian territory. He said,Since the map of India was compressed,it appeared the state is missing.
Members blasted him for taking the matter casually.
Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse said,The government cannot ignore the matter. It is a very serious issue when you delete a state from your country and show it in another. The minister owes an explanation.
Senior BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar said,It is ridiculous when the minister says the state went missing as the map was compressed. If you reduce the size of a map it does not alter its features. How can a state get deleted from India and attached to China even if you reduce its size?
Congress,NCP,Shiv Sena,BJP,MNS and Peasants and Workers Party members demanded action against officials responsible.
NCP MLA Jitendra Awadh said: It defies logic when such answers are given. What action has the government taken against those who failed to take note of the blunder? It is expected that those who are preparing school textbooks are academicians of excellence.
Sensing the Assembly mood,Darda promised an FIR.
He said,The error has been rectified by provding stickers of the right map.
