The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has claimed to have solved the murder of a 53-year-old man in Dahisar in December last year with the arrest of a domestic help.
Police said the victim, reportedly a homosexual, used to call men to his house for massages. It was during one of these massage sessions that the domestic help, one Ramu Sitaram Paswan alias Raj (19),killed Hoshang Ardeshir Boman and robbed money from his residence.
Boman used to reside in a second-floor flat in Northern Star building in Kandarpada,Dahisar (West) while his wife and daughter were staying in Peddar Road area.
On December 25,Boman was found dead at his residence without any clothes, his hands tied, and with his mouth and nose covered with tape. His cupboard was ransacked, leading the police to suspect robbery as the motive.
While a case was registered at MHB police station, the Crime Branch started parallel investigations. On receiving an information, the Anti-Robbery Cell of the Crime Branch had detained Paswan who hails from Dariyapur village in Sohila taluka of UPs Gonda district. On questioning,he confessed to his role in the murder, a Crime Branch officer said.
Investigations revealed that Boman was homosexual, and used to call young men to his residence for massages. He was in touch with someone named Ajay who provided him with men. Ajay knew that Boman kept a considerable amount of cash in his cupboard. He hatched a robbery plan with Paswan, the officer said.
On December 24 last year,Ajay and Paswan allegedly went to Bomans house on the pretext of giving a massage and familiarised themselves with the flat layout.
The following day,the duo took two accomplices with them to Bomans flat claiming they were there to give him the massage. While in the middle of the massage, the accused bound Bomans hands and gagged him. They then assaulted him and killed him. After the murder, they robbed Rs 1.5 lakh from Bomans cupboard, the officer said.
Police said the remaining three are absconding.
