Central Railway (CR) has earned Rs 9.05 crore as against Rs 4.81 crore earned during April 2011,registering an increase of 88 per cent during a massive drive to curb the ticketless/ unauthorised travel in April this year.
The amount earned during April 2012,from the 1.89 lakh cases of ticketless / irregular travel including un-booked luggage as against 1.15 lakh cases of ticketless / irregular travel including un-booked luggage detected during April 2011 showing an increase of 64 per cent in the number of cases detected.
The cases detected and amount realized during April are the highest ever figures achieved during a month by Central Railway. Apart from this,605 cases of transfer of reserved journey tickets were also detected for April 2012 and an amount of Rs 4.01 lakh recovered in fines besides confiscation of tickets worth Rs 2.71 lakh.
