Corporator’s murder: Panchal granted bail

Surendra Panchal,an accused in the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar,was granted bail on Monday by the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court.

Surendra Panchal,an accused in the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar,was granted bail on Monday by the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court. Panchal,who had allegedly supplied gun for the murder,has been in custody since May 2008. Defence lawyer Randir Kale appearing for Panchal contented that though he had supplied the weapon,he was not aware that it would be used to kill somebody. Jamsandekar was shot on March 2,2007 from a close range and died on the spot. The murder was allegedly a result of a long-standing property dispute between Jamsandekar and Sadashiv Surve alias Bala Surve (another accused). Arun Gawli is alleged to be the prime conspirator in the case. Vijaykumar Giri,Ashok Kumar Jaiswal,Narendra alias Guddu Giri,Anil Giri,Sahibrao Bhintale,Sandip Gagan,Shailendra Gangan,Shrikrishna Gurav,Dinesh Narkar and Pratap Godse are the other accused.
