The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Tuesday sought more time to submit the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratorys findings in the J Dey murder.
The police have been awaiting forensic reports on eight mobile handsets,a memory card and laptop that were recovered from accused Jigna Vora soon after her arrest last November.
The Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court is currently hearing Voras bail application, which she filed on the grounds that she had no role to play in the case and was falsely implicated.
On Tuesday, the police came along with a sealed envelope of documents, which they claimed was a partial report obtained from the forensic lab.
But officers did not submit it to the court and said they would hand it over after obtaining the complete report.
Vora had been booked under several Sections of the MCOCA for allegedly having provided vital information to underworld fugitive Chhota Rajan.
According to the chargesheet,Vora had instigated Rajan to kill Dey. The police alleged Vora was in touch with Chhota Rajan and had contacted him several times.
