Police are looking for a city-based hotelier and builder,who is also a prominent member of Islam Gymkhana,for allegedly providing complimentary passes for Sachin Tendulkar’s 200th Test match to the three people arrested Wednesday for selling the same in black.
Police say the hotelier would procure passes from other club members and hand them to the three for selling them in black market.
On Thursday,police sent summons to secretaries of Islam Gymkhana,Bombay Gymkhana and Garware club,calling them for questioning.
Janak Gandhi,Girish Premnath and Ajay Jadhav were arrested Wednesday while trying to sell six complimentary passes for the match for Rs 25,000 each. Gandhi is a member of Garware Club,while Premnath and Jadhav work at Bombay Gymkhana and Islam Gymkhana,respectively.
“Their interrogation has revealed that Jadhav procured passes from a senior member of Islam Gymkhana. We are looking for him,but he is untraceable. His phone is switched off as well,” said a Crime Branch officer.
“Before every match,Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) issues complimentary passes to each sports club registered with it,which are then distributed among the club members.”
Sources said Gandhi himself is a prominent member of Garware Club and was even going to contest the club’s elections slated for Friday.
Meanwhile,Gandhi,Premnath and Jadhav were produced in Esplanade court Thursday and were remanded to police custody till Saturday.

ICC officials meet top cops
MUMBAI: Two officials of the International Cricket Council,N S Virk and Allan Peacock,along with officials of their anti-corruption unit on Thursday met top officers of Mumbai police,including commissioner Satyapal Singh,and discussed IPL betting case.
