POWAI police investigating the murder of assistant police inspector Nandkishore Taksalkar (43) allegedly by his wife Parvati have found that the couple’s marriage was illegal,as Taksalkar’s divorce with his first wife was not yet complete.
Parvati surrendered after allegedly bludgeoning Taksalkar to death in their residence in Marol Police lines on Sunday and was arrested. On Monday,Taksalkar’s first wife turned up at the police station. “Taksalkar’s first wife said her divorce proceedings were under way in court. Taksalkar married Parvati a few months after his first wife went to stay with her parents in Bhandup. He would allegedly suspect his second wife’s character and frequently fight with her when drunk,” said an officer with Powai police who did not wish to be named.
Senior inspector Bajirao Bhosale said,“Parvati has been remanded in police custody till May 5.”
Police on Monday recorded the statement of Taksalkar’s 15-year-old son,who was in the house at the time of the murder.
