A constable posted as a driver for a doctor with the Nagpada police hospital, as well as two ward boys, have been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman constable. The accused have been identified as constable Nannath Khedke (30), Mahesh Bariya (31) and Shankar Ambavle (42).

The victim, a trainee constable, was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago after she fractured her leg at the Police Training Camp in Marol. “She alleged that shortly after she got admitted, constable Navnath Khedke visited her and insisted that she keep his ATM card in case she needed money. Two days later, she told Khedke to take his ATM card back. He called her to meet him in a cabin behind the OPD. When she got in, ward boy Mahesh Bariya shut the door from outside, while Khedke molested her. They let her go after she raised an alarm, but threatened to defame her if she told anyone about the incident,” said an officer.

The victim also alleged that Bariya and Shankar Ambavle, another ward boy, would frequently harass her. “We arrested the three on Saturday. They were produced in court on Sunday and granted bail,” said senior inspector Nandkumar Mhetar.
