The Chief Minister’s Office Tuesday launched a new website, http://www.mahalabharathi.in, which aims to take government welfare schemes to maximum people across the state. The web portal was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Mantralaya.
“The state government has to be both responsive and responsible. The larger objective of every welfare scheme is to benefit the largest number of people for whom it is meant. Through MahaLabharathi, the purpose would be to create awareness and also ensure its benefit to the people,” Fadnavis said.
Earlier, the state government had set up mahadbt.gov.in to facilitate direct benefit transfer of scholarships for education to students’ bank accounts. The MahaDBT would be linked to the CMO portal. The CMO website has also signed up http://www.change.org that would work to pursue the citizens’ charter of demands through greater interaction.
Fadnavis is now a ‘verified decision maker’ on change.org — joining the list of global elected representatives such as Australia PM Malcolm Turnbull, President of France Emmanuel Macron, and the mayors of several world cities, including London, who have used the portal to understand and engage on citizens’ issues. Fadnavis said, “It is a big responsibility to respond to the needs of the people. From the government’s side, we have always been proactive. The state government will ensure that every petition from the common man is taken to its logical end.”
