Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said a cabinet expansion is likely before the monsoon session commencing on July 18.
Fadnavis said, “I am planning to carry out a cabinet expansion before the session.”
Insiders indicated it is likely before July 10.
The exercise will be to ensure all sections and regions are represented in the cabinet. There will be an effort to induct at least one cabinet member from North Maharashtra in the wake of resignation of senior minister Eknath Khadse. And at least two candidates representing Other Backward Castes (OBCs).
The maximum allowed strength of the state council of ministers is 42. Fadnavis indicated he is unlikely to fill all the cabinet posts.
