In a snub to the MNS and NCP,Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has ruled against the decision taken by the Nashik Municipal Corporation to reject the draft development plan (DP) of the city.
On September 23 this year, the MNS-ruled civic body had rejected the draft DP prepared by the town planning department citing various irregularities. The NCP,which is the principal opposition party in the civic body, had also supported the resolution.
However,Chavan last week asked the town planning department to proceed with the DP. A senior official said the civic body did not have the rights of accepting or rejecting a DP. It is the prerogative of the state government. The civic body can only make suggestions and objections.
