Karnatak blank PDP Waves
Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) enjoyed a good outing as they blanked PDP Waves,by a commanding 3-0 margin in an Elite Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league,played at the Poinsur Gymkhana ground,Kandivili on Wednesday. KSA got their goals through the efforts of Wilfred Anthony,Gilroy Aranha and Naresh Pardeshi to romp to victory. In another match,Maharashtra State Police (MSP) also had things much their own way as they cruised to a 2-0 victory against Companeroes. Parag Sawant and Amjad Khan were on target for the policemen. At the St Xaviers ground in Parel,meanwhile,Sebastian Boys from Chembur completely outplayed Utkash Mandal winning by a 5-0 margin in a MDFA Division II encounter. Everton DMello scored a brace,while Russel DMello,Carlton DMello and Royston Correia added a goal each to complete the win for the Chembur side.

KARAN Kapoor scored the winning goal to guide St Andrews College to a narrow 1-0 win against Hinduja College in a quarter-final match of the 11th GSA Inter Collegiate Football Tournament played at the GSA round,Cross Maidan on Wednesday.
In another quarter-final clash,Rizvi Coleege overcame Dalmiya Lions 2-0 with Sujit Pandey and Jayesh Rane scoring one goal apiece for the winners.

Triangular Athletic meet
The second Triangular Masters Athletic championships,comprising athletes from city,suburbs and new Mumbai,will be hosted by Poinsur Gymkhana on February 8. The athletes on the basis of their performance in this meet will be selected for the Maharashtra Masters Athletic championships to be held at Dadoji Konddeo Sadium Thane on February 25 and 26. MUMBAI FC’s I-League campaign slumped further as Nigerian striker Ranti Martins found the target twice,including an injury time goal,to power Dempo Sports Club to a comprehensive 2-0 win in the 18th round I League match and open up a six-point lead over their nearest rivals at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on Wednesday. With 40 points from 18 matches,the Goan outfit is now sitting pretty at the top of the heap,while Mumbai FC remained in 11th spot with 14 points from 18 matches after losing their sixth match on the trot. In second and third spots are Kolkata glamour outfits East Bengal and Mohun Bagan with 34 and 33 points,respectively.I-League veteran Martins scored his opening goal in the 22nd minute off a spot-kick and his second effort came when he was left unmarked off a move from the right that he took full advantage of by putting the ball past Mumbai FC’s goalkeeper Sanjiban Ghosh.
