In order to honour and appreciate Saina Nehwal’s podium finish at the London Olympics,the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association will be the first district in the state to hold the first of series of badminton tournaments for girls under-15 and under- 17 in Saina’s honour at Cricket Club of India badminton courts on Wednesday.

Saina Nehwal tourney at CCI

In order to honour and appreciate Saina Nehwal’s podium finish at the London Olympics,the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association will be the first district in the state to hold the first of series of badminton tournaments for girls under-15 and under- 17 in Saina’s honour at Cricket Club of India badminton courts on Wednesday.

They expect all the top as well as novice players from the district to be part of this badminton festival,which is the brainchild of Pradeep Gandhe,the president of the Maharashtra Badminton Association,who stated that this will help in motivating and encouraging girls to take to this sport seriously.

The event starts at 12 noon.

MSDAA athletic meet at SAI

The Mumbai Suburbs Annual Athletic Championship will be held at Sports Authority of India Kandivali (East) from September 6 to 9. Apart from the men and women,there will be events for boys and girls in the age groups of U-6,U-8,U-10,U-12,U-14,U-16,U-18,U-20. Entries will be accepted at the MSDAA Office,Rizvi House,Hill Road,Bandra (West) upto 9 p.m. on August 31.
