The Nirmal Nagar police have arrested two persons for allegedly possessing firearms at Western Expressway in Khar on Tuesday morning.

The two are suspected to be members of underworld don Chhota Rajan’s gang allegedly operating in the western suburbs. According to the police,Ganesh Malsaray (26) and Rajesh Hivalay (21) were apprehended by officers during a nakabandi on the Western Expressway. The police had received information that the two men – who are suspects in several firing incidents across the city – were going to Bandra to seal an extortion deal.

The police laid a trap and nabbed them at 11 am on Tuesday. They were searched and two 7.62-bore pistols and two cartridges were seized from them,said an officer.

“We have arrested the two under

several sections of the Arms Act. We are now questioning them to find out the cases they have been involved in,” said PSI Raju S from the Nirmal Nagar police station.
