Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) CEO Rakesh Kumar’s bank details have revealed that he acquired property and ornaments worth Rs 4.69 crore, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday claimed while seeking extension of his remand. Kumar’s remand has been extended till August 28 by the Special CBI court.
The remand application filed by inspector Suresh Iyer of CBI claimed that the CEO received a Lenovo laptop and an Apple iPad on August 1 for arranging the screening of a Tamil film Anjaan at Infinity mall. The application reveals that property worth Rs 29.15 lakh was purchased in New Delhi’s Uday Park in 2006 in the name of Kumar’s mother and sold for Rs 42.4 lakh in 2010. The CBI seized 2 kg gold jewellery and diamonds worth Rs 65 lakh from Kumar’s locker in Vadodara.
It is important to recover the laptop, iPad and interrogate Kumar with regard to acquisition of properties and ornaments, the CBI contended.
Kumar has been accused of seeking bribes from producers after delaying the issuance of censor certificates.
