The Central Bureau of Investigation has been granted a three-day transit remand of chartered accountant, Paresh Chimanlal Buddhadev, arrested for allegedly leaking and selling confidential documents related to foreign investments from the finance and commerce and industry ministries.
Buddhadev (49) was allegedly trying to destroy documents in his office when the CBI reached his office to arrest him.

The CBI submitted that during the search of the premises of the co-accused, certain materials that were obtained showed involvement of Buddhadev in commission of the offence. The agency also claimed that the search of Buddhadev’s office confirmed his involvement in the case.
The accountant objected his remand, claiming that since the investigation has been completed, there was no need for him to be produced in a court. The agency alleged that Buddhadev, hired by IndusInd bank, was selling confidential government documents to co-accused Khemchand Gandhi, which were passed on to corporate houses.
A CBI source claimed that hard disks, documents and emails were seized from Buddhadev’s office. “Through the video footage in his office, we gathered that Buddhadev had assigned his employee to shred the documents,” the source said.
On Thursday, the CBI had arrested Mumbai-based CA-cum-consultant Khemchand Gandhi, Lalaram Sharma, a section officer in the department of economic affairs, and Ashok Kumar Singh, an under-secretary in the department of disinvestment. CBI said government documents were allegedly sold by Singh and Sharma to Gandhi, who passed them on to companies.
The agency claimed that the accused in the case have compromised the official internal correspondence of various ministries for DLF Limitless Developers Pvt Ltd, HDFC Bank, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Modril India, Prime Living, NovaLead Pharma, IndusInd Bank and Kakardi British Realty, for “ulterior motives”.
