The Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), the organisation protesting the running of the play Agnes of God for “misrepresenting the religious belief of the Christian community”, is planning a demonstration outside the Bandra West police station on Sunday.
“We have been trying to file an FIR against Poor Box productions and Kaizaad Kotwal, the director of the play, for hurting religious sentiments. But the police has refused to file one even though we’ve visited them a dozen times,” said Joseph Dias, the secretary-general of CSF. “We want to hold the protest October 11 evening,” he told The Indian Express.
Dias is also upset that he hasn’t yet received a recording of the play, which he claimed was to come to him the day after the premiere. However, the protest demonstration will take place irrespective of whether he receives a copy of the recording or not. “It looks like the police takes down FIRs in such cases only if there is a law and order situation or mob violence. We want to file an FIR first.”
