“Pradhan is a carpenter and used to get a lot of contracts at construction sites. He gradually started getting information about builders — addresses, phone numbers, movements — and passing it to Pujari. At least five builders were extorted by Pujari based on information provided by Pradhan,” said the officer.

After a builder refused to pay recently,Pujari allegedly ordered firing to scare him. The revolvers and the bullets seized from Pradhan were to be handed over to two men who were supposed to carry out the scare attack.

Police have identified the two and hope to arrest them soon.

Pradhan was allegedly recruited by Satish Pujari,an aide of Ravi, who once used to stay in Ambarnath. He was being paid Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 every month.
