One killed as car hits divider, rams taxi coming from opposite side in Vakola

The accident took place at around 4 am when the driver of the Ertiga, which was heading towards Santacruz from Bandra, lost control and dashed into a divider and jumped on the other side of the road.

A 34-year-old taxi driver was killed and three others were injured in a road accident on Vakola bridge in Santacruz East on Wednesday morning. The police have registered a case against the driver of an Ertiga car who lost control over his vehicle, leading to the fatal accident.

The accident took place at around 4 am when the driver of the Ertiga, which was heading towards Santacruz from Bandra, lost control and dashed into a divider and jumped on the other side of the road.

The Ertiga hit a taxi coming from the opposite direction. Taxi driver Ajaykumar Vidyaprasad Mishra (34) got
seriously injured and was rushed to VN Desai Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the police said.
A Wagon R car behind the taxi also got damaged in the accident.

According to the police, Samyak Mayank Raniwala (19), who was driving the Ertiga, had lost control over the wheels and allegedly caused the accident. He is admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra. Raniwala along with two others had gone to Bandra to have pizza. They met with the accident while returning from there, preliminary probe has found.

The traffic also got affected due to the accident. It resumed after the vehicles were removed with the help of a crane. Vakola police has registered a case against the Ertiga driver for causing death due to negligence and rash driving, said a police officer.
