MUMBAI: A 14-year-old boy who had tested positive for dengue after a rapid test died Thursday,civic health department officials said. However in the absence of an Elisa test BMC) is treating it as a suspected case of dengue shock syndrome. “As of now,we think the cause of death might be dengue fever,” said Dr Mangala Gomare,deputy chief executive officer,BMC.

Man held for sending lewd text messages

MUMBAI: A 31-year-old man from Karnataka was arrested Thursday for allegedly sending lewd SMS to several women,including an actor.

In September,a complaint was registered by a couple about lewd messages sent to the woman’s phone.

Police traced the number to Harish Bhatt from Kalinga in Karnataka. A team of officers went to Karnataka and arrested Bhatt. A dual SIM card cellphone,a laptop,2 SIM Cards and a Internet Data card have been seized from Bhatt,police said.

CR services disrupted as pantographs break

MUMBAI: Suburban services on the Central Railway (CR) main line were disrupted for the second consecutive day after four pantographs of CST-bound Ambernath local no.8,got entangled in overhead wires at Dombivali station Thursday.

A total of 23 local services were cancelled.

A severe bunching of local services and delay in outstation trains was reported. ENS

UDD official Jivne granted bail

MUMBAI: Anand Jivne,Deputy Secretary,Urban Development Department,who was arrested on October 4,was granted bail Thursday,said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACB) Shahaji Shinde. He added that Rs 20 lakh were found deposited in 12 bank accounts in the names of Jivne’s family members. ENS

Bodies of two 5-year-olds found

Mumbai: The bodies of a five-year-old boy and a girl of the same age were found in separate incidents Thursday. The body of Nazneen Shaikh was fished out from a trench filled with water at an SRA site in Andheri (W) in the morning. The Oshiwara police have registered a case of accidental death and are probing the builder,contractor and the security guard for negligence. In the evening,the body of Aslam alias Lucky Akhtar Siddique,a resident of Naik Nagar,was found near the pumping station at Dharavi. Police are on the lookout for the two men — Alladin and Guddu — with whom he was last seen. ENS
