The police found that the couple would get three to four different powders supplied by a member of their drug network at residenceTHE MUMBAI police on Tuesday said they carried out a raid at the Borivali residence of a couple last Saturday who allegedly manufactured heroin at their house using mixer grinder and sold it to peddlers. The accused would allegedly get raw material from other states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
They used their mixer grinder to manufacture heroin and sell it locally. This is the first time they have been arrested.
DCP (Anti-Narcotics Cell) Navnath Dhawale said the Kandivali unit of ANC conducted a raid at the residence of the couple near the Rashtriya Udyan Metro station in Borivali. During the operation, 511 grams of heroin valued at Rs 2.04 crore were seized from the house. The police arrested them and seized two mobile phones and a mixer grinder.
The police found that the couple would get three to four different powders supplied by a member of their drug network at residence. “Most of the time, the suppliers were from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The suppliers would also guide them about how to go about making heroin with the help of the mixer grinder at their residence,” Dhawale said.
The couple–in their early 40s–would manufacture heroin and then tie it up into smaller packets called pudis and sell some quantities to smaller peddlers. Based on information, the ANC conducted the raid and placed the couple under arrest. The police said they are now questioning the accused to get information about the other accused involved in the racket.
An officer said, “This is the first time they have been named in a drugs case. Locally they were called as ‘bunty babli’ as people knew they were into some criminal activity.”
