After issuing notices to eight builders for not following anti-malaria measures at their construction sites,the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to three more builders. The civic body has sent notices to over 100 sites where anti-larvicide spraying has not been done.
According to civic data,construction is on at over 2,690 sites in the city. The Health Department has already issued a notice to the sites. We are coordinating with public agencies like the Western Railway,Airport Authority and they have taken measures, said Additional Municipal Commissioner (Health) Manisha Mhaiskar.
Earlier this week,the Building Proposal Department had issued stop-work notices to three sites in Prabhadevi,Worli and Kurla.
The civic health department plans to organise special blood test and health check up camps near construction sites to treat construction workers. Since June 1,over 1,243 malaria patients have been admitted to civic hospitals. ens
