Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that if Ashok Chavan gets the Rajya Sabha nominations from BJP then it would be an amount to BJP disrespecting martyred soldiers.
While speaking at a public rally in Ahmednagar, Uddhav said it was PM Modi who had said Chavan had insulted martyred soldiers in the Adarsh scam and that the former Congress leader might be joining the BJP to clear his name from the Adarsh scam.
“When PM Modi and DCM Fadnavis had gone to Nanded (Chavan’s home district) to address a rally, Modi had mentioned about corruption and Adarsh scam. They had said that Chavan had disrespected families of the martyred soldiers. But if the PM sends him (Chavan) to the Rajya Sabha, then it will amount to disrespecting the soldiers,” Uddhav said.
He further alleged that Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis was making a “deal” with Ashok Chavan when a Shiv Sena worker was being killed in Mumbai.
“No matter how many leaders the BJP takes into the party, it will have no impact. The resentment and anger among the people is growing and the people of the state will defeat the BJP. Because the BJP has now become the party of ayaram (defectors) and not Shri Ram (Lord Ram),” Uddhav said.
Meanwhile, Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that Ashok Chavan was going to leave Congress two years ago when Eknath Shinde quit the Shiv Sena.
