Three-time Malad West MLA and Congress candidate Aslam Shaikh, who also served as a cabinet minister in the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, will lock horns with BJP’s Vinod Shelar in the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Shaikh talks about identity politics and lists the reasons why the MVA would not allow the Dharavi Redevelopment Project to be implemented in Malad if they were elected to power. Excerpts:

How is the campaigning going so far? What is your reading of this election?

Aslam Shaikh: This time also it is going to be a one-sided contest in Malad West, quite similar to what everyone has been seeing since 2009.
