Biker sees man smash head of person sleeping on pavement near Churchgate station

The officer said neither the deceased nor the accused has been identified. Police are scanning CCTV footages to track down the accused

THE MUMBAI police are probing the murder of a man, asleep on the pavement near Marine Drive when his head was smashed by someone on Friday night. A biker who had parked his motorcycle near the spot saw the crime and alerted the police. The incident took place near the Churchgate station.

A murder case has been registered and the police are trying to track the unidentified accused from CCTV camera footage.

An officer from Azad Maidan police station said Harsh Shah, a stock market broker, had parked his bike near the Muscati court building in Churchgate on Friday. Around 11.45 pm, as he returned to the spot to take his bike, he saw a man smash the head of the man sleeping on the pavement with a stone. Shocked, he looked around for any policemen and then called the police control room.

The officer said neither the deceased nor the accused has been identified. Police are scanning CCTV footages to track down the accused.
