Bollywood fans in London got a chance to relive their favourite classics last week. The London-based Conferro Auctions hosted a special auction on Friday dedicated to 100 years of Indian cinema. The auction saw 150 lots with vintage LPs,gramophones,film banners and posters from iconic films such as Mother India,Mughal-e-Azam,Sholay,Deewar,Chori Chori and C.I.D. “We are overwhelmed by the support we have received,” says Conferro founder Sharan Seth. “It is inspiring to have had so many collectors and non-collectors alike,taking interest in Bollywood’s cinematic heritage.” Two lots and a percentage of the sales will be donated to the charity,Pratham UK,which works towards children literacy in India.
