Having received several complaints of faulty electronic meters in autorickshaws, the state transport commissioner’s office on Tuesday sent a notice asking commuters to ensure that the distance displayed on the meters is 0 km before starting the journey.

Over the past few days, there have been cases where though the meter reading shows the fare as Rs 12 (fare for the first 1.6 km) on being initialised, the distance shown is not 0 km. Thus, the commuter, ends up paying for more than he has travelled.
